| Totally random, but I just realized something... Traditionally, poems and sagas and epics were passed down orally, spoken around campfires or fireplaces. Since you knew these by memory, not by reading them off paper, you would tend to embellish or change things, either as you saw fit or as you remember it. What we read today- Beowulf, the Iliad and Odyssey, King Arthur, all the others- aren't as they originally were. But when someone makes a movie adaption that differs from the "original" legend, everyone complains about how the story is being mistreated, you're ruining it, why would they change that, this is a paltry misadaption. But, really, the movie is preserving the idea of elaboration, of retelling, of free thinking. Robert Zemeckis thought it would be awesome to give Grendel's mother the ability to shape shift into Angelina Jolie, he wanted to have the Dragon related to the rest of the story (also other more plot centric details, which are obviously spoilers). Any King Arthur movie or book is going to be different from the hundred others. Yet they receive low ratings for destroying this classic story, etc. Even though they're preserving it more than anything. Just a little thought I had. | |

| Human memory was used much more often back then (The time you were referring to) and therefore, the human brain was much more exercised in memorizing facts and sentences. So just because most people today can't remember things said to them, (It's all stored on their hard drive so there's no need ) that doesn't necessarily mean people back then have the same lazy memory. I'm not sure if that made sense, but hopefully you catch my drift... | |

| No, RAM is Random-Acess-Memory, that's the stuff programs uses, I'm not entirly sure what it does, but the HardDrive is where all the Data is stored.

| Dr J... that wasn't my point. In fact I'm not sure where you're getting that point from. I mean that modern adaptions are bashed for being inaccurate to the source material, but the source material is "inaccurate" to it's own source material so they really shouldn't be complaining. | |

| Chicago was sofa king awesome! Took the commuter rail from Michigan city at 9:20, went to the Art Institute (saw arms and armour, medieval paintings, Greek and Roman art and the Thorne Miniature rooms), then went to lunch at the Corner Bakery Cafe, the on to the LEGO store in the Northbrook store (FTW! Loot pic here... 8 slave leias :3 ), then hung around in the park (don't remember what it was called) and saw the Next Fest sponsored by Wired magazine, some seriously cool tech there. Then we walked around a while towards the train station and left on the 5:00 train, got back to Michigan and watched Hot Fuzz. Friggin' great day. And then today my brother was sorting through his stuff, and I got to mess around with his Classic Castle LEGO collection, plus take home a bunch of books and a few games that he didn't want. My brother rocks. | |

| Yep! I own it! Shaun of the Dead, too! Anyways, I have stuff I need to take pictures of, but there hasn't been enough sun... Might get a tablescrap up later, but I doubt it. Especially since I'll probably be playing Age of Empires: Age of Kings. | |

| There are three strange cats in the backyard... One white and black one with an unmarked collar, been seeing it for a few days now. It meows a lot and sounds both angry and scared... odd mixture of skittish and brave, kept walking up to me but then running off when I moved, finally let me pet it though. ^_^ Now it's follows me around the yard. Second is a little kitten... grey tiger, does typical kitten things like bounding around and frolicking in the garden. So friggin' kyoote. :3 Third looks related to the Tiger... has tiger patterns in the same light and dark grey, but has white spots too. This one has a collar and tag, just lives somewhere up the street we're on so it's just exploring... So yeah. Mystery kitties are cute. EDIT: Now there's an orange cat on the front porch! o_0 I'm like a... cat magnet or something. | |

| Lolz! Yeah, right now my sisters kitty has found a female gold/grey cat... They were staring at eachother about an hour a coupld days ago! Yesterday they were sniffing eachothers noses.... So my main point of this story is, Axe deoderant attracts female cats! | |

| THE NUN & THE CABBIE
A nun gets into the cab, and notices that a VERY handsome cab driver won't stop staring at her.
She asks him why he is staring.
He replies: 'I have a question to ask you but I don't want to offend you.'
She answers, 'My son, you cannot offend me. When you're as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I'm sure that there's nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive.'
'Well, I've always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.'
She responds, 'Well, let's see what we can do about that: #1, you have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic.'
The cab driver is very excited and says, 'Yes, I'm single and Catholic!'
'OK' the nun says. 'Pull into the next alley.' The nun fulfills his fantasy, with a kiss that would make a hooker blush.
But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts crying.
'My dear child,' says the nun, 'why are you crying?'
'Forgive me but I've sinned. I lied and I must confess, I'm married and I'm Jewish.'
The nun says, 'That's OK. My name is Kevin and I'm going to a Halloween party.' | |

| Since I haven't been to the local Family Video, they sent us a coupon; 1 free rental and half off all rentals in the next 2 weeks. I took advantage of the free one and picked up Prince of Persia Rival Swords for Wii. Totally awesome. Now I'm about to watch My Fair Lady... Ah well, at least Audrey Hepburn is hawt. | |

| So I've been researching various reptiles and avians to try to make a realistic backstory for Dragons for my Castle builds. Looking right now at Komodo Dragons, Moniter lizards, alligators and crocodiles, mythical European Dragons. There's some very interesting stuff... for instance, Crocs have extremely strong muscles to close their mouths (they have the strongest jaws of all known animals), but weak ones to open it- so you can just bind their mouths with rope or something to keep their jaw shut. But they move very fast over short distances, so it's more likely that they'd bite you before you could do so. Especially if you were slow. The largest one measured was 20 feet long, and it was measured by the skin so it might have been at least another 10 cm longer. The longest one heard of (but with no actual proof, so it could be exaggerated) was reputed to be 25 feet long. Komodo dragons have bones strengthening some of their scales, and are venemous. Copious amounts of red saliva that the Komodo dragons produce helps to lubricate the food, but swallowing is still a long process (15–20 minutes to swallow a goat). Komodo dragons may attempt to speed up the process by ramming the carcass against a tree to force it down its throat, sometimes ramming so forcefully that the tree is knocked down. In short... when the zombies attack, you can keep your guns, machetes and whatever. I'll have an army of giant fuggin carnivorous lizards to protect me. EDIT: "Despite their slow appearance, crocodiles are top predators in their environment, and various species have been observed attacking and killing sharks." EDIT 2: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Quetzscale1.png Bloody hell! That's slightly larger than my dragon! Plausibility! | |
