HomePage - ReLaunch?

Hopefully...Maybe this time we can get the homepage working again! I did some updates and such...But I really need to ask you guys -

Do you think the homepage is worth the effort to redesign and upkeep?

Do you think the Portal would suffice as a homepage?


I'd ask if you could reply with suggestions or reasoning after voting. Thanks a bunch!!

I didn't vote, but I will say that I think a homepage is only worth it if we're actually interested in getting new members. If we want this to become a bigger forum, the Military LEGO Flickr group looks really promising.

Of course, opening the forum to people not in our circle would hugely change it.

It wouldn't the same PPE? we've come to know and love if we start advertising (But not necessarily a bad one.)

Well, then, that's the thing we need to figure out. Do we want to advertise, or do we want to keep this a close circle?

There is the chance that we're already so tightly knit that it would be hard to get any new members in.

I mean, we can't expect everyone to laugh at our "inside" jokes, and we'd have to cut down on all the making out and stuff.

Yeah, I was going to mention that. Going public would mean axing the sexing. Tim, Ian, Paul- you know who you are. ;]

I think the portal works great as a homepage alternative.

Actually, going public would also require a heightened focus on LEGO. Otherwise, people will come and see a boring forum.

I say we should advertise and broaden this place a bit more. We would have a lot more activity and more MOCS and such. We would also, like already mentioned, have to not use any profanity of sexual jokes so that way people would most likely stay. And if we do, we may have to remove the Cbox.

Yea, a secret forum for the "Inner Members" to just let loose.

Good idea, but there could be a "we're special but your you're not" feeling if others knew about it.

I agree, though, word would get out, and it would show in the lack of posts for other forums. I'm liking this idea, really.
