| Okay, cool. What were two differences between the latest prewar(<WWII) Thompson model and the first war-time(WWII) production of a Thompson machine gun? No searching for 48 hours. | |

| The M1 and M1A1 used Blow-back, the pre-war (1921 & 1928) used something called a "Blish lock"

| My bad, I read to fast. Here's a couple more The 1928A1 (Navy version) had the horzontail forearm, and it also had sling mounts.

| The Blish Lock was complicated, and the foregrip was not needed, and it was decided that the cooling fins on the barrel, the Cutt's Compensator, and the nice rear sight were not needed eather. So the wartime models had none of these. The blish locking mechanism was replaced with a simple blow back mechanism, the foregrip was elimenated, replaced by a smaller vertical foregrip. The Cutt's Compensator was elimenated alltogeather, and the finely machined rear sight was replaced with a "L" shaped battle sight. But Stormy got the main part about the Blish lock being changed to Blow Back. I just thougt I would list all the differences *Self proclames myself the Thompson SMG expert* | |

| I'll give it to FLAME, because he DID infact name the two differences, but the first wartime model produced was a standard M1928A1 - with the L rear sight and no cooling fins. That model did in fact have the Blish blowback, front pistol grip, and Cutt's Compensator. (FLAME, you just got burn'd. ) | |

| I knew that the first military one was the M1928A1....also, the M1928A1 did not have the front pistol grip.
Gimme a little bit to come up with a question | |
