| I'm not sure on the calibers, but I'm betting it was because it didn't keep finger prints?

| Whoo! If none can figure it out soon, dibbs on next question! Is it called sanitized because you have to clean and maintain it conctantly? Or cause its black and you can't see the dirt.

| Even though jhawker got the calibers I thought that I would point out why it was "sanitized". It was sanitized because it had no markings (Nothing to tell you where it came from). | |

| Exactly!
The gun sometimes had a serial number on it and a few random markings, but nothing that could be traceable. | |

| You told me, it was like Special Forces and sniper teams. A few worked their ways into the VC forces, too, I think. | |

| Dangit Tim, then you should've let someone else answer it Yes, Special Forces, Rangers, Sniper Teams, Counter Insurgency forces, Helicopter Pilots, and the VC used the Thompson in Vietnam; I've even heard of a few lieutenants (regular GI's) getting their hands one. You're up | |

| How long was the M1903 Springfield the standard infantry rifle for the United States military? No searching for 24 hours. Also, I just thought this was cool. This is the Air Service variant of the Springfield, with a permanent 25 round magazine. | |

| It was used as the main rifle up until 1936, at that point the M1 Garand started to replace it. But it was used through-out WWII as a service rifle, and into the Koran War as a Sniper rifle.

| You're kinda dancing around the answer - just how many years was it the standard infantry rifle for the United States military? | |

| Um, I said it was done in 1936, but not everyone had Garands going into the war. I do know for a fact that the large part of the Marines after the USA got into the war still used the 1903 do to the fact that there wasn't enough Garand's to go around. Ergo, it was still the standard rifle for some of them, hence why I said, that in 1936 it was starting to get phased out. http://www.2ndinfdiv.com/component/option,com_kb/page,articles/articleid,2/Itemid,45/ But whatever, I really don't care -Stormy | |
